I have listed a few books that I think are essential reading for fly anglers and fly tiers alike. You possibly won't agree with my choices but I've enjoyed and learned from these books over the years. If you can't find these books try Paul Morgan at Coch-y-Bonddu - www.anglebooks.com

Trout Fishing

Czech Nymph: and other related fly fishing methods
by Karel Krivanec and others

The first authoritative book on this highly efficient method of nymph fishing for trout and grayling. Very well illustrated with many patterns of Czech nymphs. The English is at times a little quaint and some of the patterns are repetitive but still worth every penny.

Fly tying

Flytyers' Flies - The Flies that Catch Fish
by Chris Sandford and friends
Chris Sandford and eight accomplished tiers each describe three of their "go to" patterns. The flies are shown being tied in step by step sequence and their use and origins are described by the tiers. Beautifully photographed in colour throughout.

Spey Flies: How to Tie Them
by Bob Veverka
One of the world's most accomplished salmon fly tiers, Bob Veverka discusses the history and background of classic Spey, Dee, Don, Eagle and Steelhead Spey patterns, including step-by-step instructions for tying the Lady Caroline, White-Winged Akroyd Dee, and Orange Heron. The special challenges of tying Spey and Spey-style patterns - winding the long body hackles, wrapping the collars, mounting the unique wings, finding substitutes for materials no longer available - are all explained and solved. More than 160 patterns are listed. Superbly illustrated with colour photographs by Michael Radencich.
